Khartoum, September 5(Darfur24)Clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces RSF, renewed Tuesday in Al-Shajara military area, as part of the latter’s attempts to control the Armored Corps, south of Khartoum.
Explosions were heard in the vicinity of the Armored Corps, south of Khartoum. The armed forces also bombed sites of the Rapid Support Forces in the city of Omdurman.
The Umbda Al-Hara 21 Resistance Committees revealed that 19 citizens were killed as a result of the armed forces’ bombing of Rapid Support bases in the Umbada Al-Saliheen area, and said in a statement seen by Darfur 24, “Indiscriminate artillery shelling and marches by the armed forces targeted two Rapid Support bases in the Al-Salihin Umm Baddah area, and the targeting was not accurate. It led to the death of 19 citizens and others are being counted.”
Meanwhile, the Rapid Support Forces said that today they seized 4 tanks and a number of combat vehicles with full equipment, from the Armed Forces in the Armored Corps and the Al-Thakhira Al-Shajara area, and added in a statement seen by Darfur 24 that they carried out a qualitative attack on the Corps of Engineers and the Command and Staff in the city of Omdurman.
Meanwhile, the official spokesman for the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Nabil Abdullah, said that the Armed Forces responded to the Rapid Support Forces’ attempt to re-attack the Armored Corps and ammunition in the Al-Shajara military area, inflicting heavy losses in personnel and equipment.
The official spokesman stated in a press statement that during this month, the Rapid Support Forces repeatedly attempted and launched many attacks on the Al-Shajara area, but the armed forces continued to confront them.
Since last April, the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces have been waging a war, with both sides exchanging accusations about starting it. The war has led to the death of more than 3,000 citizens and the displacement of more than 4 million, some within Sudan while others fled to neighboring countries .
The war has also left widespread destruction in the capital, Khartoum, and some states of Darfur.
