Khartoum, July 22( Darfur 24)Doctors without borders( MSF) announced that its medical team which works at the Sudanese-Turkish hospital, South of the Sudanese capital , Khartoum was subjected on Thursday to physical assault by gunmen, while it was transporting medical supplies from the organisation’s depot to the hospital.
MSF warned that following Thursday’s horrible incident and the previous incidents, that it might not be able to continue presence in the Turkish hospital.
In a statement seen by Darfur 24 the I NGO on Thursday said its 18-member team was beaten, flogged and one of its drivers was arrested and threatened with death before been released and one of the organisation’s vehicles was looted.
The Sudanese-turkish hospital is one of the two hospitals that supported by MSF and still functioning in the entire southern Khartoum neighborhoods .
“Our team was stopped 700meters only from the hospital where hundreds of patients are treated, including children.MSF added ”
MSF warned that it’s the only International, medical and humanitarian organisation that still present in Khartoum and assist the ministry of health in its efforts to support continuation of the fragile health system.
