Nyala, July 21(Darfur24)Clashes between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary rapid support forces RSF renewed on Thursday afternoon in Nyala, the provincial capital of South Darfur state , after pause that lasted several days both sides using artillery and heavy machine guns.
Residents from Almatar neighborhood told Darfur 24 that the clashes were renewed in downtown Nyala, Alhadi neighborhood, but he ruled out civilian casualties, saying it was early to talk about civilian deaths.
Eyewitness who spoke to Darfur24 on condition of anonymity said RSF forces on 4 vehicles entered Karari neighborhood in southern part of the city, a matter that faced with opposition from the residents, but RSF forces assured them that were there to protect their injured affiliates.
Darfur24 learned that three children and a woman were killed the day before yesterday when a projectile fell on the south eastern part of the town.
Nyala has been a scene of indiscriminate shelling by the warring parties on neighborhoods since the war between the Sudanese army and RSF erupted mid-April.
Nearly 200 people have killed in Nyala and hundreds injured since the war started, while most of the residents of the city have taken refuge in the southern neighborhood and some of the state’s localities.
