Khartoum, July 10(Darfur 24)The Intergovernmental Authority for development IGAD meeting kicked off Monday in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, chaired by the Kenyan president, William Ruto , in the presence of the Rapid Support Forces RSF delegation, while the Sudanese army delegation boycotted the session, rejecting Kenyan chairmanship of the East African bloc.
RSF issued a statement saying that the participation of its delegation in the meeting comes within the framework of its conviction of reaching a peaceful solution that leads to cessation of the war and pave the way for inclusive political dialogue that tackles the root causes of Sudan’s crisis, return of civil democratic rule and total exit of the military institution from politics.
According to the statement which was seen by Darfur 24, RFS delegation was surprised by the Sudanese army boycott of the opening session, describing the decision as unthematic and insubstantial.
While the Sudanese army delegation palliated its boycott of the meeting in a statement issued by Sudan ministry of foreign affairs this morning , that IGAD declined its request to distance Kenyan president from the presidency of the four-member committee.
RSF said the irresponsible behaviour of the Sudanese army delegation reveals articulately that the decision within the military institution is abducted and there are many decision making centres seeing to prolong the war and disrupts endeavours exerted by Sudan’s International and regional friends.
“The Sudanese army delegation boycott of IGAD meeting comes within the approach of the defunct and extreme regime that had led Sudan to the biggest regional and international criss in its history and to sanctions that left effect on all field of live in the country . Added the statement “
