Elfashir, June 24 ( Darfur24)Villagers fled Friday from Tabit area to IDP camps on the outskirts of Elfashir after Sudanese army withdrew from the garrison in the area.
Army withdrawal from Tabit comes two hours after end of clashes in Elfashir on Thursday between Sudan’s army and the powerful paramilitary Rapid Support Forces RSF , resulted in the killing and injury of a number of civilians.
People fleeing Tabit town 45kms South of Elfashir and neighboring villages, told Darfur24 , they feared that RSF and its allied malitias would attack their villages as they had done in Tawila the previous week..
Community leader from zamzam IDP camp in the vicinity of Elfashir, told Darfur24 that displacement of people from 12 villages in addition to the flow of new arrivals from Tawila constitutes heavy burden to Zamzam and other IDP camps in Elfashir.
Host communities in Elfashir have constructed makeshift shelters for the new arrivals and provided them with non-food items.
