Port Sudan , April 30(Darfur24) The ongoing confrontations between the Sudanese army (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, forced the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Sudan, Volker Pierce, to move to the city of Port Sudan, the capital of the Red Sea state, to carry out the tasks of the mission from there.
The mission confirmed – in its Twitter page on Sunday – that it will not leave Sudan, and that the head of the mission will work from the city of Port Sudan until the security situation in Khartoum allows him to return.
Armed clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, have entered their third week, and both sides of the conflict are exchanging accusations of violations of the ceasefire, despite warnings of a slide into a disastrous civil war.
