El-Fashir ,April 30( Darfur24) The health emergency team at the Abu Shouk camp for the displaced in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, announced that the initial death toll from the armed confrontations between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in the camp has reached 9 dead and 48 wounded, including children so far.
Member of the emergency team, Abdullah Shakshak, told Darfur 24 – in conjunction with the resumption of work at the Integrated Reproductive Health Center in the Abu Shouk Center on Saturday – that the killings that have been documented so far in the camp have reached 9 dead, including 3 children, in addition to the wounding of 48 others, including 11 children, as a result of the confrontations in the city.
Shakshak stated that the return of work at the Reproductive Health Center will reduce the transportation distance for the displaced people who were injured due to the confrontations, after they were still suffering from hesitation to El Fasher Hospital in the south to receive treatment due to the lack of alternative hospitals or health centers in El Fasher.
While a member of the medical team at the medical center, Dr. Muhammad Abkar Abd al-Mahmoud confirmed to Darfur 24 that dozens of injured people arrived at the center as soon as its opening was announced, but he warned that the center is facing a shortage of medicines and medical supplies.
