El-Geneina, April 26(Darfur24) On Wednesday, the Director of the Public Affairs Department and Deputy Police Director of West Darfur State, Brigadier General Abdel-Baqi Al-Hassan Mohamed, was assassinated after being shot by unknown persons.
Sources told Darfur 24 that gunmen shot Brigadier General Abdel-Baqi inside his home in El-Geneina.
This incident comes a day after citizens took control of the weapons stores headed by the West Darfur state police. Preliminary information indicates that the number of weapons stolen exceeds 6,000 various types of weapons .
The city of El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur state, is witnessing, for the third day in a row, armed confrontations between the army and the Rapid Support Forces in the city, before it turned into ethnic conflict that led to the death of dozens and the injury of hundreds among civilians.
