Khartoum, April 24(Darfur24) USAID  manager , Samantha Power said on Sunday that the ongoing violence in Sudan between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces has killed hundreds and left countless others fleeing.

“These are terrible days for the Sudanese people, including many USAID colleagues,” she added.

The United States is ready to help the people of Sudan overcome this crisis and build the peaceful, democratic state they have long called for.

She affirmed that the United States will continue to make intensive efforts, in close coordination with allies and partners, to pressure the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces to implement and support the nationwide cease-fire, and to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to those who need it most.

“ I affirm the commitment of the United States to the thousands of Sudanese youth, activists, and professional associations who risked their lives to end brutal authoritarian rule and who heroically rose amid the chaos to support their fellow citizens.” Samantha added.

She added: “The United States evacuated our American personnel – we are very grateful that they are safe, and on their way home, but our commitment and responsibility, does not end there.”

And she continued: “We work tirelessly to help our Sudanese colleagues, citizens of the three countries, and partners to keep them and their families safe. We have worked together for decades to bring peace and democracy to Sudan.”

She further added “ We are working to deliver life-saving aid to the people of Sudan.”

“Right now, we know that countless families are deprived of basic necessities, such as water and medicine, and we will increase assistance as conditions allow” she said  .
