Khartoum, April 19(Darfur24) The World Health Organization revealed, on Wednesday, that the death toll from the bloody clashes in Sudan has risen to about 300, at a time when fighting intensified between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, with the collapse of the declared truce between the two parties.
On Tuesday evening, a truce was announced between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, with international mediation, but it quickly collapsed due to the exchange of bullets and shells.
The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Ghebreyesus, said that at least 300 people were killed
dGhebreyesus added that more than 2,600 others have been wounded since fighting broke out last Saturday.
The international official did not clarify the number of dead civilians and soldiers.
The Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors, which records casualties, said on Tuesday that no less than 174 civilians were killed and 1,041 wounded.
It is believed that the real death toll is much higher than this number, as it is not possible to reach the bodies in the streets due to the intensity of the clashes.
