Khartoum, April 14(Darfur24) The World Food Program WFP  announced, Thursday, the provision of humanitarian aid to more than 9 million people in Sudan during the past year.

 

According to the annual report of the international organization, “Darfur 24” received a copy of it by mail. The World Food Program reached 9.3 million people with food and cash assistance in 2022.

 

“The combined effects of conflict, climate shocks, poor harvests and the macroeconomic crisis including hyperinflation and currency volatility have greatly affected people’s access to food in Sudan in 2022.

 

WFP reached 9.3 million people (56 percent female), with 168 506 metric tons of food and $83.6 million in cash transfers.

WFP  also helped 1.6 million school-going children in 15 states with school meals or take-home rations.
