El-Geneina, March 24(Darfur24) Inter-communal violence that has been taking place since Thursday morning in the border town of Tandelti , 30 kms West of El Geneina, West Darfur state, has forced hundreds to flee the town into neighboring Chad in search of safety.
Yesterday morning , four people were killed and injured as a result of separate incidents that initially targeted a trader named Mustafa Adam, which led to his death in his house.
In the aftermath, the families of the two dead were angry and launched an attack yesterday afternoon, leaving one dead and one wounded, before the violence resumed this morning without any statistics being reported due to the lack of communication networks coverage .
One of the women fleeing from Tandelti, who refused to be named, told Darfur 24 that more than two-thirds of the citizens of the Tandelti town managed, yesterday, Thursday, and today, to cross the Chadian border into the Kboro area, and describing their conditions in Chad as bad.
She added: “We are now fasting and sitting under the branches of dry trees , without food or shelter”, and revealing that some of those who could not flee have become besieged inside Tandalti.
She said the Chadian authorities closed the borders with a number of military vehicles to prevent armedmen from crossing into Chadian territories.
Meanwhile, official sources told Darfur 24 that the clashes have subsided, while the security forces stationed in Tandelti asked the state government to send additional military reinforcements.
