Nyala, February(Darfur 24)  12 On Sunday, authorities in South Darfur began a security campaign to control the movement of unregistered  cars and combat (negative phenomena) in the city of Nyala, the state capital.

 

The campaign comes against the backdrop of a number of crimes of looting, robbery and threats in the city of Nyala by gangs that exploit cars that do not  have  number plates, known locally as “Boko Haram” cars.

 

Addressing the forces , acting Governor of South Darfur, Bashir Mersal,  said that the State Security Committee has prepared a force of 30 military vehicles to carry out the  campaign.

 

Mursal stated that the coming period will witness strict security measures to put an end to what he described as (negative phenomena) in the state.

 

Mursal  explained that the force that was formed to execute  the campaign includes all the regular forces, “the police, the army, the Rapid Support Forces, and the General Intelligence Service.”

“The crimes of looting and threats that the city of Nyala witnessed during the past days with unmetered cars were a provocation to the security services and the state government, so it must be resolved.” Mursal added

 

For his part, commander of the 16th Infantry Division confirmed that the operation will  deal with  unregistered cars , combat drugs and  restore reassurance to the people of  South Darfur state.
