Khartoum , January 11(Darfur24) Darfur24 has learned that the government of West Darfur state suspended the Director General of the Ministry of Finance and Economy for not cooperating with the executive and security agencies in the state.
The sources stated that the Deputy Wali of West Darfur, Tijani Karchoum, issued a decision suspending the Director General of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Ismat Ibrahim, from discharging his duties, and the decision assigned the highest job rank responsible for managing the ministry’s burdens.
The sources said that the Security Committee of the West Darfur state government, headed by Deputy Governor Tijani Al-Taher Karshoum, was in the process of visiting the locality of Jabal Moon to solve the tensions between farmers and herders and signs of disagreements between the Rapid Support Forces and the armed struggle movements, but the Director General of Finance refused to provide the financial needs for the visit.
Darfur 24 learned that the Director General of the Ministry of Finance refused to respond to the directives of the State Security Committee to provide financial support for the visit, prompting the deputy governor to take a decision to stop him on the grounds that the visit aims to control disputes and expectations of clashes between armed forces that could undermine the stability of the region.
Esmat enjoys great support from the governor of West Darfur, Khamis Abdullah, who appointed him as director of finance. His choice of this position sparked great differences between multiple social components, on the one hand, because he comes from the White Nile state and did not visit West Darfur before his appointment.
The decision to suspend Esmat was taken in the absence of the governor, Khamis Abdullah, who has been in the capital, Khartoum, since last week, and the decision found wide acceptance among the employees.
