Kadugli, December 27(Darfur24) South Kordofan state police force was ambushed by unidentified gunmen today, Tuesday, in the Kwaik area, 20 km east of the city of Kadugli, the state capital, while it was deporting death row inmates to El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan.
South Kordofan Police Director Major General Qamar Ahmed Mohamed told Darfur24 that a police force moved at dawn today, Tuesday, to transfer a number of inmates sentenced to death to El-Obeid prison in North Kordofan state, and fell into an ambush set by gunmen, and they opened fire on them, killing a policeman and wounding three others.
He added that the driver was hit by a live bullet, he died on the spot, and three others were wounded, pointing out that the attackers aimed take those sentenced to death, but they failed, and the force was able to deliver the inmates to the city of El-Obeid after providing it with additional force.
