Khartopum, December 28(Darfur24)The head of the children’s cancer unit at Al-Nazra Hospital in Khartoum, Dr. Muhammad Awad Al-Khatib, revealed that 75% of children with children suffer shortages of chemotherapy doses.
Al-Khatib said in a statement to “Darfur 24” that the situation has worsened over the past two months due to the spread of the black market for cancer medicines, warning that the validity of the medicines sold in the market is not guaranteed because they are not subject to any specifications and standards.
Alzara hospital receives 1,700-2,000 children with cancer every month.
Al-Khatib explained that the seriousness of the drug shortage is that new patients lose their right to treatment, which leads to an exacerbation of the disease, noting that the interruption of doses for old patients causes an imbalance in the treatment protocol, which leads to a relapse of patients.
