El-Daein, November 28(Darfur24) Government of East Darfur state announced on Monday that two cases of dengue fever had been  reported  in El Daein, the state capital.

 

 The designated governor of the state, Muhammad Adam Abd al-Rahman, said in a meeting with the Ministry of Health on Monday that fears of the spread of dengue fever among citizens necessitate the readiness of the Ministry of Health to combat mosquitoes and vectors of the disease, and directed the ministry to seek the assistance of volunteers from the Sudanese Red Crescent to combat the disease.

 

The Director General of the Ministry of Health, Ahmed Javon, said that the ministry had sent 32 samples in the past few days for examination at the national laboratory, “Stack” in Khartoum, and the results of two of them were positive for dengue fever.

 He mentioned that the state has quantities of pesticides that were provided by the World Health Organization and UNICEF, sufficient to cover the state’s need for pesticides to spray disease vectors.
