El-Fashir, November 29(Darfur 24)  8 people were killed and more than 10 others  seriously injured on Sunday and Monday, as  herders from Hamar tribe  clashed with  farmers affiliated with Barti tribe  in Um Hosh area of the Jaber administrative unit  of  Al-Tawisha locality, 235 km from the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state .

 

Speaking  to Darfur 24, the mayor of Umm Hosh Badawi Abdel Qader said  the conflict erupted after herders  drove  their livestock into the farms, leading  to the death of about 8 people, and the wounding of more than 10 others, including seriously  injured ones.

 

Abdel Qader indicated that the two parties have reached understandings, and there are ongoing efforts to sign a cessation of hostilities today, Tuesday, after some young people committed themselves to paying 2 billion pounds as compensation for farm damage.

 

In a statement to Darfur 24, the Executive Director of Al-Tawisha locality, Zuhair Al-Tijani, confirmed the occurrence of armed confrontations between the two parties for the same reasons, which led to casualties, and added, “The situation is calm and there are vigorous efforts to sign an agreement to stop hostilities.”
