Nyala, November 14(Darfur24) Petrol  stations in the city of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, have been closed to the public since last Friday evening, pending the implementation of the increase in fuel prices in the country, in order to achieve the greatest amount of profits.

Director of the Department of Transport and Petroleum at the Ministry of Finance, Ahmed Director of Darfur, said that his administration sent a fact-finding team about the closure of the stations, warning the owners of the stations not to close them before the arrival of the new fuel, which has not yet moved from Khartoum, and to deal with the old price until the arrival of the new shipments to the state.

Yasser Hassan Hamed, one of the workers at a fuel station in the city center, said that the Petroleum Department at the Ministry of Finance did not announce the new prices, stating that the stations were closed so as not to incur a loss.

The price of a gallon of gasoline in the black market in Nyala increased to 4000 pounds and a gallon of benzene  to 3900 pounds. Less than a month ago, the state’s Ministry of Finance announced fuel prices at stations, where the price of a gallon of  benzene  reached 3100 pounds, and 3650 pounds for a gallon of gasoline.
