Khartoum, November 3(Darfur24) On Thursday, the United Nations announced the displacement of about 100 people, as a result of tribal violence in Blue Nile state, since the outbreak of the conflict last July.

According to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), it was reported that at least 97,000 people were displaced within Blue Nile State and to neighboring countries following the inter-communal conflict that erupted in mid-July.

Governor of Blue Nile declared a state of emergency for one month. Over the past four days, the security situation has improved and no incidents have been reported. Most of the shops and markets are currently open in Damazin City.

Most of those affected were displaced within the Blue Nile and to the neighboring states of Sennar and White Nile. However, the exact numbers and areas of displacement are still being investigated and are subject to change. In White Nile State, the authorities established the Khor Ajwal gathering site to host the Hausa displaced from Blue Nile State.

An inter-agency mission was carried out across the affected areas of Roseires locality and Damazin town on October 27, while a mission to the affected areas of Wad Al Mahi locality is scheduled for November 7, 2022.

Humanitarian partners continue to provide life-saving assistance to affected people they can reach in the state and who have fled to other regions and countries. Assistance includes food, non-food items, health and water and sanitation services.
