El-Fashir, October 20(Darfur24)Thirteen members of   an armed faction recently  dissented from  the Sudan Liberation Movement of Abdel Wahed Muhammad Nur, were killed and more than 15 were wounded as  they clashed  with the forces of the Abdul Wahed movement in eastern Jebel Marra, Monday October 17.

 

According to local residents who arrived in the Martal area, 40 km west of Tawila in North Darfur, armed confrontations between the two sides took place against the background of the killing of one of the night guards of  Abdel wahid’s  movement earlier this week.

After the December revolution overthrew the regime of Ommer al-Bashir, the Sudan Liberation Movement, led by Abdel-Wahid Mohamed Nour, announced a unilateral ceasefire, that  has been renewed every year.

 

 In October 2020, a faction led by Tha  al-Nun Abdul Shafee defected from the Abdul Wahed Nour movement, and according to military sources, the Rapid Support Forces embraced the dissident faction, and provided it with logistical support to fight Abdel ewahid’s  movement in the Jebel Marra area.

 

In this context, a military source in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, confirmed to Darfur 24 that 13 members were killed in the armed confrontations between the forces of the Nour movement and the Al-Noon faction.

 

While the official spokesman for the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdel Wahed Nour, Muhammad Abdel Rahman Al Nayer, denied his knowledge of this incident.
