Khartoum, October 19(Darfur24) The Sudanese Armed Forces SAFsaid Wednesday, that forces from the SPLM-N shelled neighborhoods in the city of Lagawa on Tuesday, using mortars .
The spokesman for the armed forces, Colonel Nabil Abdullah, stated that the movement bombed the city with 13 mortar shells from one of its bases in Jabal Tarin, north of Laqawa.
On Friday and Saturday, fighting broke out between the Misseriya and Nuba tribes in Lagawa locality, leaving 17 dead and 18 wounded, however, fighting renewed again between the two sides on Tuesday, with an attack on the area with heavy weapons.
The statement indicated that the bombing targeted the city market and the Al-Ghazaya and Masalit neighborhoods, and stated that the attack resulted in the injury of two members of the Rapid Support Forces.
The spokesman for the armed forces said that what happened is a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement and hostilities with the government of Sudan, which has been renewed and adhered to since October 16, 2019.
The armed forces warned the leadership of the SPLM-N north of the consequences of any breach of the ceasefire, and the attempt to exploit the limited conflicts that may arise between citizens to achieve an agenda that does not serve the historical peaceful coexistence between them, and the Sudanese government’s continuous calls for the movement to engage in the peace process.
The statement stressed that the armed forces will continue to carry out their duties to protect all citizens, and will address any attempt by the SPLM north to interfere in favor of any of the social components of the region, in a manner that preserves security and peaceful coexistence among all social components without discrimination.
