Nyala, September 21(Darfur24) The Department of Quality Control and Consumer Protection at the Ministry of Finance and Economy in South Darfur seized quantities of invalid flour that was on its way to be stored and then distributed in the markets.
Director of the Quality Control and Consumer Protection Department, Kalthoum Muhammad Ahmad Abbas, told Darfur 24 that her department received a notification last Sunday evening that there were quantities of flour being stored in a warehouse north of Nyala.
She added, according to this communication, a team from the administration moved and 876 bags were seized and the owner of the flour was arrested, and she explained that the flour had not expired, but was exposed to water, which made it spoiled and unfit for use.
Kulthum appealed to citizens to immediately report the spoiled flour, and indicated that according to the law and regulations of the Quality Control and Consumer Protection Department, the flour was confiscated in preparation for its extermination in the coming days, in addition to a fine of 300,000 pounds was imposed on the owner of the flour.
