Nyala, August 18(Darfur24) The Criminal Court of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, adjourned a session devoted for the trial of 4 RSF members including  an officer with the rank of captain, accused of  torturing  and murdering  a  young man in Darfur  ,named,  Muhannad Ateem .

In 2019, the Rapid Support Forces RSF took two young men from Karari neighborhood in Nyala to the RSF camp in Kashlingo suburb, south of the city, on charges of stealing a car tire, they  beat and tortured them for two days, until one of them died.

 

According to the mother of the dead man, RSF forces  threw the body of her son  it in front of the house, and threatened her that she would suffer the same fate if she  reported  the case to  police.

 

The indictment’s lawyer, Saddam Al-Hadi Abdel-Rasoul, told Darfur 24 that the postponement was due to the health conditions of the mother of the court judge, Maulana Badr Al-Din Muhammad Ahmed Nimr, the head of the session.

 

He explained that the session was devoted to presenting the closing arguments of the case, before the verdict is pronounced in the next September 8 session.

 

The lawyer, indicated that the August 8 session of the court discussed the autopsy doctor, in which he confirmed that the death of the young man, “Muhannad Ateem” was due to severe beatings and torture, with whips, sharp instruments and sticks.
