El-Fashir, August 16(Darfur24) Eleven people were killed, others were injured, and a number of villages were burned in armed confrontations that have been going on since Monday, north of Kutum, North Darfur.
The incident was triggered by killing of two nomads who were riding a motorcycle by unknown persons near the village of Gharir, north of the city of Kutum.
Darfur24 sources reported that relatives of the two killed people launched an attack on the neighboring villages, killing 9 people and wounding others.
The General Coordination of Displaced Persons and Refugees in Darfur said that the attack killed 8 people, kidnapped 9 others, and wounded an unknown number, in addition to burning the villages of Sinana, Koranga, Umm Katira, Hillat al-Faki, and Abu Jaab.
In a statement seen by Darfur24, the coordination said that the attackers were on 27 four-wheel drive vehicles, as well as dozens of motorbikes
