El-Geineina, August 10(Darfur24) The Ministry of Health in West Darfur has revealed that the number of monkeypox cases rose to two, amid fears of residents and warnings from the health authorities.
The Director-General of the Ministry of Health in West Darfur, Dr. Othman Ali, told to Darfur 24 that the cases of monkeypox infection had risen to two cases after one of the brothers of the first infected person tested positive.
He pointed out that the situation has become so difficult to the extent that samples of suspicious cases have been sent to federal laboratories.
On the other hand, a medical delegation from the Federal Ministry of Health has visited the locality of Karenik, which recorded the first case.
The delegation briefed doctors, medical staff and community members about the disease, its symptoms, ways to deal with it, combating infection, treating cases and how to control the disease.
The head of the medical team, Dr. Najah Mohamed Ahmed, said that the federal medical team that arrived in the state is working in coordination with the local teams within the localities of West Darfur and neighboring states in order to limit the spread of the disease.
