El-Genina, July 25(Darfur24) Preparations are underway in the city of El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur, to return the displaced people IDPs from the shelters in government institutions in the city to the “Krindaq, Abu Dhar, and Al Jabal” camps, which they abandoned due to the inter-tribal conflict that the city witnessed in the past three years.
The Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo on Sunday reviewed the security and administrative arrangements for the return of the displaced people to their former camps, and during his visit to the Krindaq IDP camp, accompanied by member of the Sovereign Council, Altahir Hajar.
Dagalo stressed the need for the permanent presence of these forces in their bases to prevent anyone trying to attack the lives or property of the displaced, reiterating the government’s keenness and interest in extending the prestige of the state and implementing the rule of law, without laxity or complacency in that.
Meanwhile, the governor of West Darfur, Khamis Abdullah, chaired a meeting that included IDP community leaders , women and youth , in the presence of the head of the state’s civil administration, Sultan Saad Abdul Rahman Bahruddin.
The Wali affirmed the government’s readiness to provide services and provide security and stability for the beginning of a real return of the displaced to their places in the camps and then to their areas of origin.
For his part, the head of the Native Administration in West Darfur, Sultan Saad Abd al-Rahman Bahr al-Din, said that there is a great breakthrough in the crisis of the displaced people who have taken shelter in government institutions, and attributed this to the joint efforts between the center and the state government, and referred to what the Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council had done during his previous visit to the state, which lasted 3 Weeks, during which he conducted reconciliations between all the conflicting tribes in the state.
The presence of the displaced people inside the government institutions in the city of El Geneina – in the past three years completely paralyzed the working wheels of the government offices, and canceled many of the government services provided by these institutions to citizens.
