El-Daein, June 12( Darfur24) Five farmers were killed and two others
were injured in an attack by armed men on the Ladoub area of Yassin
locality in East Darfur state on Saturday.
The Executive Director of the locality Zakaria Haroun, told Darfur 24
that the attack was carried out on unarmed farmers while they were
cleaning their farms in preparation for the agricultural season.
He stated that the attack resulted in the killing of five farmers and
the injury of two.
He added: As soon as we recived the news, we went to the area with a
joint military force with the aim of arresting the perpetrators, but
they fled, and the force is still chasing them within the borders of
South Darfur state.
The area has been witnessing a tribal conflict for years between the
Zaghawa tribe in East Darfur and the Mahadi tribe in South Darfur.
Darfur24 obtained the names of those killed in the attack, as follows:
Al-Hafiz Adam Khamis, Muhammad Muhammedin Ahmad, Muhammad Umar Abkar Safi,
Abdullah Daoud Abaker Safi,
Abdullah Abdul Qadir Issa
And the wounded: Muhammad Husayn Muhammedin, Abd al-Salam Jibril
