El-fashir, June 11(Darfur24) A man was killed and 18 others were
wounded when gunmen fired at their car while they were returning from
the Tabit market to Tawila city in North Darfur.
Eyewitnesses told Darfur24 that they were on their way back from the
market of the Tabit area to the city of Tawila when the gunmen
attacked the vehicle.
However, the armed men who were on four motorcycles intercepted them,
and fired a hail of live bullets at them, which led to the death of
Yasser Yahya, 38, on the spot, and 28 others were wounded.
Eyewitness explained that they informed Tawila local police of the
incident, but the police were unable to arrest the culprits until
Saturday morning.
This incident coincided with the start of the North Darfur
government’s decision to ban the movement of unlicensed “Boko”
vehicles on the state’s roads to prevent them from being exploited in
committing murder and looting crimes.
