Khartoum, June 1(Darfur4) A video clip that documented the moment a girl was beaten, her hijab was pulled, and verbally abused by policemen last Thursday in the Al-Kalakla Al-Lafa area, south of
Khartoum, went viral on social media.
Darfur 24 was able to reach the assaulted girl, where she recounted in detail the incident, which was met with disapproval and rejection.
The girl beaten up
At the beginning of her interview with Darfur 24, T. N said that she went out to join the procession announced last Thursday in the Al-Kalalat area, south of Khartoum, at 4:00 pm , when two of the
policemen were wearing civilian clothes, while two others were wearing police uniforms.
She adds: Someone in civilian clothes called me, and I did not turn to him, because I thought he was just an ordinary person, but he insisted and his voice rose, and when I turned around, I found others
in police uniforms with him, so I went to them.
The girl says with a sigh that it all happened while I was near people wearing police uniforms, and when one of them called me, I thought at first that he would do justice to me and protect me, but they asked me
to go with him, or “Hanodik al-Qassam” which means the police station in al-Kalakla al-Lafa area.
The way to the police station Someone grabbed my hand to take me to the police station near the scene of the attack, and on the way, my phone rang, they took it from me immediately, and forced me to open
it, and asked my name, I answered it, then they laughed hysterically, I asked them to return the phone, and that they have no right to take it But they didn’t care what I said.
She added: They opened the “studio” and saw private pictures of me and my companions, and then they laughed out loud. I asked them to return the phone again, and I tried to take it, so one of them forced
my hand (me) and continued his assault by placing his hand on my face.
He shouted: each one of us have two women like you.
“T” added in her interview with Darfur 24, when we approached the police station, they refused to let me in, knowing that the violations they had committed against me were illegal, and tried to frighten me
with the clear threatening looks on their faces, and one of them grabbed my hand.
she added: When I insisted on entering the police station , they returned the phone, and asked me to go immediately through the police station’s outer courtyard.
“T” wants to file a report as a result of being beaten and having her privacy violated, but she is afraid for the health of her sick mother, who upon watching the video that documented the moment of the
assault, fell into a fit of hysterical crying. She says, “My mother’s suffering with illness affected her a lot. Previously, she always asked me to struggle and not to give in and hold those who wronged me
accountable, but I saw her that day as weak” for the first time, and she asked me not to leave the house again for all, and even asked me not to go to university.
Our interviewer got to know one of the security personnel who attacked her, as a picture of him spread, following the Thursday demonstrations carried out by the Kalakla Resistance Committees,
which resulted in the death of two martyrs.
She indicated to Darfur 24 that the owner of the photo – attached to the article – was in the group, saying: He and those with him took my phone, and they saw pictures of me and my friends laughing, and when I
objected, he said to me: “I will beat you,” waving an iron stick he held in his hand.
