Nyala May 11(Darfur24) Dozens of children, women and some young people
in Otash camp for displaced people , northeast of Nyala, the capital
of South Darfur, demonstrated this morning, Wednesday, against the
background of the killing of a displaced person and the injury of
another one last Tuesday night.
The protesters smashed car windows and threw pedestrians on the
“Nyala- El Fasher” road, storming the land port, breaking a number of
shops, and emptying the port of passengers, according to eyewitnesses
who spoke to Darfur 24.
According to an eyewitness from the camp, unknown persons riding a
white “double cap” boxcar and carrying light weapons and a machine gun
fired shots at stations “13 and 15” adjacent to the “Nyala- El Fasher”
road, which led to the killing of the displaced Abdul Rahman Muhammad,
26 years old, and the injury of the displaced Mariam Ishaq. from
center.
A senior security source told Darfur 24 about moving police patrols to
protect the camp residents from attacks. The Executive Director of
Nyala locality, north of Abu Sufyan, Abdullah Muhammad, told Darfur 24
that the causes of yesterday’s incident are unknown and some have
exploited them to achieve their goals to destabilize security.
The source confirmed the postponement of a meeting that was supposed
to be held today among the camp residents, and some residents accuse
thieves of stealing their livestock and bringing them into the camp,
which created tension in it.
