Nyala, March 27 (Darfur24) Darfur Governor Minni Arko Minawi said that serious work will begin on some development projects after his visit to South Darfur, which he started today, Thursday.
The Director General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Urban Development in the state of South Darfur, Eng. Tayeb Abdul Rahman Al-Amin, told Darfur 24 that the consulting companies to work on the Nyala El-Fasher road reached the state, and visited the road to find out the real obstacles facing its completion.
He explained that the length of the road is 205 kilometers, and 75 kilometers were implemented from Nyala to the Manwashi area, adding, “Even the Nyala Manwashi road needs maintenance after it was bulldozed during the previous period.”
Al-Tayeb pointed out that the company working on the road confirmed the construction of 5 iron bridges in the valleys along the road before the beginning of the autumn season, as it is the main obstacle to completing the road.
The Nyala El-Fasher road is one of the vital roads linking the states of South, Central, and West Darfur and the countries of Chad, Central Africa Republic to the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.
Citizens of the aforementioned states suffer from the difficulty of reaching El Fasher during the rainy season due to the valleys along the road.
Scores of people were killed on the Nyala- El Fasher road due to traffic accidents and armed robberies in which bandits take advantage of the rough road.
