Nyala, March 17(Darfur24) Hundreds of teachers in the city of Nyala, capital of South Darfur, western Sudan, organized a procession today, Thursday, with the participation of revolutionary bodies and a number of citizens, denouncing the attack on the teachers of Nyala Secondary School for Boys in the middle of this week by a police force.
The procession, which began gathering in front of the Ministry of Education and Guidance, moved east of the city to Nyala Secondary School for Boys, before moving to the cinema roundabout in the city center.
One of the teachers, Mohamed Ahmed Adam, told Darfur 24 that the goal of the procession is to restore the teacher’s dignity, and to stop any future assault, describing what happened in Nyala High School as an insult to the teacher, calling on the higher authorities to hold the perpetrators accountable and bring them to a fair and prompt trial.
While teacher, Dar Al-Naeem Abdel-Mahmoud Ahmed, said that the procession expresses the solidarity of the Sudanese society with the teachers, and its bias towards the issues of the teacher, who works under difficult conditions.
She added: “The teacher is the pillar of society, and he is the one who lights the way, so how can they be attacked?”
