Talodi March 15(Darfur24) Over 13 people were killed Wednesday when a gold mine well collapsed in the Umm Dawal area, 7 km south of the city of Talodi in South Kordofan.
One of the miners, Al-Amin Ahmed, told Darfur24 that a well collapsed last night, killing more than 40 gold-mining workers.
He mentioned that about 12 people were killed, while 10 of the wounded were seriously injured. The Executive director of Talodi Locality, Abdul Rahman Musa Al-Amin stated that Talodi Hospital received this morning 13 bodies of victims of the collapse of the gold well in the Umm Dawal area.
He indicated that the bodies that arrived at Talodi Hospital were identified, and the procedures for their burrial were completed, after their names were registered.
.
He explained that the details of the accident are due to the appearance of large quantities of gold in one of the wells, and as a result of this, large numbers of miners scrambled, which led to the collapse of the soil on them. In the locality of Talodi, there are large numbers of mines with thousands of miners for gold, and according to Al-Amin, there have been numerous collapse incidents in the area, the last of which occurred last week in the “Dallas” mine in the “El Liri” locality, which killed 3 people.
