El-Fashir. Feb 27(Darfur24) Today, Sunday, the Child Court in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State , postponed the trial session of the man suspected of raping children of the Quranic school in Umbro area to ten O’clock in the morning tomorrow, Monday, due to the illness of the court judge.
Authorities in Umbro locality, 290 km northwest of El Fasher, the state capital, arrested a Quranic school teacher suspected of raping 10 children.
The crime was disclosed after some students complained to their families about the practices of the accused Sheikh “Y, A, A,” which prompted a number of mothers of children to meet the founder of the Quranic school, and inform him of their children’s complaints, but the founder of turned a blind eye and refused the complaint.
In the meantime, some families went last November to report the case to the local authorities, and the accused was arrested and put in prison, and the children were taken to Umbro Hospital for the necessary examinations, before being transferred to El Fasher for further legal procedures.
Last February, the Child Prosecution Office in El Fasher started the procedures for the case and repeated the examinations at El Fasher Teaching Hospital for Children.
Families of the victims told Darfur24 that a number of children received medicines and treatments, and they mentioned that two of the children are in serious condition, requiring surgical operations.
