Nyala, Feb 23(Darfur24) The Council of Deans of Nyala University in South Darfur decided to suspend studies at the university for an indefinite period, against the background of the students’ sit-in in front of the university gate in the suburb of Musa in protest against the robbery incident that occurred in female students’ dormitory
The University’s Deans’ Council said – in a statement seen by Darfur24 – that the female students’ dormitory was robbed on Monday night, and the students protested in front of the university gate, which resulted in a sit-in for students in front of the gate of the university complex in Mosey neighborhoof, and accordingly the university administration took coordination With the National Student Welfare Fund – responsible for student housing – several measures are taken to address the damages of the accident and prevent its recurrence
The statement added that side events that accompanied the sit-in prevented the continuation of work due to the protestors closing the main gates of the university, and their disgraceful behavior towards university employees, in addition to the security challenges surrounding the matter.
The university council also decided to investigate the bad behavior and events that accompanied the sit-in and to bring those responsible to account.
