El-Fashir,Feb.3 (Darfur24)Police forces in North Darfur, on Wednesday, dispersed a demonstration organized by activists in El Fasher, the state capital, protesting against the visit of the leaders of October 25 coup, “chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant-General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and his deputy, Hemedti”.
Riot police fired tear gas heavily, wounding one of the demonstrators, “Mohammed Abdel Rahman,” and chased the protesters in the streets, and arrested activists, “Mohamed Salem, Asmaa Al-Nour, Amani Hassabo, and Badr Al-Din Abdel Rahman,” while the security forces deployed heavily in all the city’s roads.
Darfur 24 reporter saw heavy security presence of the Rapid Support Forces, the joint forces and the security services in the vicinity of the secretariat of the government of North Darfur state.
Leader of October 25 coup, the head of the Sovereign Council, his deputy, and the leaders of the Darfur movements arrived in El Fasher to discuss the implementation of the provision of security arrangements for the forces of the Darfur movements, which was stipulated in the Juba Peace Agreement.
This step comes after deterioration of security situation in a number of areas of the Darfur region, especially the city of El Fasher, the capital of the region, which witnessed many incidents over the past two months.
