2.1.2021(El-Fashir) The joint force with special tasks entrusted with protecting the former premise of the peacekeeping mission UNAMID announced Sunday the seizure of a car carrying a number of belongings that were stolen from the mission headquarters in the middle of last week.
North Darfur government information office said that the forces also managed to seize 8 refrigerators and computers.
Speaking to reporters , Deputy Governor of the Darfur region, Mohamed Issa Aliu, said on Saturday that 85 percent of the looted belongings from the UNAMID premises are under preservation , but he did not mention the parties that were involved in the looting and denied the accusation against the government forces and the movements signatory to the Juba Peace Treaty.
On Saturday, police sources announced the arrest of 10 suspects involved in the looting of UNAMID mission premise and the warehouses of the World Food Program in El Fasher.
The sources said that some of the detainees belong to some armed struggle movements that signed the Juba Peace Agreement.
However, one of the leaders of the Sudan Liberation Forces Alliance told Darfur 24 that their forces the were not involved in the looting incident.
