22.12.2021 (Khartoum) Sudan’s inflation rate dropped to 339.58 percent in November from 350.84 percent in October, the country’s Central Bureau of Statistics said in a press release on Tuesday.

The bureau attributed the drop in inflation to the annual rate of change in the food and beverage prices as well as the drop in the core inflation.

“There was a decline in the inflation rate of food and beverage group, which registered 195.89 percent in November, compared to 208.55 percent in October. Meanwhile, the core inflation rate (without the food and beverage group) decreased to 428.34 percent in November, compared to 508.83 percent in October,” it said.

Sudan’s transitional government sharply devaluated the national currency in February, in am attempt to correct the economic and monetary imbalances.

In June, the government fully lifted the fuel subsidies and floated the national currency to end the black market.

The Central Bureau of Statistics indicated in its report that despite the decrease in the inflation rate in Gedaref state, it recorded the highest increase in inflation, reaching 715.48%, while the state of South Darfur recorded the lowest rate of 215.45%, and seven states recorded a rate higher than the general rate of inflation 339.58%, while the rest of the states average lower than the general average.
