27.11.2021 (Khartoum) The acting governor of Darfur region, Mohamed Issa Aliu, has acknowledged that insecurity in Darfur has recently increased.
“Armed robbery crimes on the roads between the cities of the region have risen dramatically “, Aliu added
Aliu revealed that 24 people had been killed , 8 villages burned, a number of children missing as a result of the Jebel Moon tribal clashes in West Darfur.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, Aliu, attributed deterioration of security situation in the region to a number of challenges, such as failure to implement provisions of the Juba Agreement on the ground, in addition to the administrative failure by the state rulers, in light of the complexity and political fragility.
This week, the Nyala- El Fasher road has witnessed a number of armed looting incidents, which claimed lives of more than 6 people.
However, fierce battles broke out between tribes in West Darfur in the same week, leaving dozens killed and wounded , in addition to displacement hundreds of villagers.
Mohamed Issa has earlier announced that an inclusive conference of tribal leaders will be convened to strengthen the role of the native administration, and reconcile its conditions to play its full role towards the citizens, stressing that more efforts will be made to return the region to its normal state, as in other regions in Sudan.
