October 21, 2021 (Khartoum) Chairman of the Sovereign Council, Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, met on Thursday in the capital Khartoum with the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, head of the UNITAMS mission, Volker Peters.
According to the Sovereignty Council’s media, the meeting discussed a number of issues of common interest, foremost of which are the current developments in the country, the relationship of the partners in the transitional period, and the United Nations’ support for the transitional period.
Speaking to reporters after his meeting with Al-Burhan , head of the UN mission, Volker Peters, stressed the need to continue the partnership between the military and civilian components to complete major transition issues represented in the formation of the transitional legislative council, the preparation of the constitution and the elections.
Volcker called for the need to return to dialogue between all parties to preserve the achievements of the transitional period, pointing to the achievements made during the past two years at the economic level, Sudan’s return to the international community and the achievement of the Sudan peace agreement in Juba.
Volcker said that the meeting stressed the need to focus during the remainder of the transitional period on the main outstanding issues and work to complete them, including naming representatives in the Legislative Council and the various committees and commissions
