October 7, 2021 (El-Geneina) Two men of a Sufi sect were killed in a village adjacent to El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur, after they were shot by a religious extremist in protest at the way the men treated his sick brother.
Sources told Darfur 24 that two religious men of a Sufi sect in the village of Saldi, east of the city of El Geneina, were treating a sick patient through relgious means which is one of the means used by the sheikhs to treat patients in some areas.
The sources indicated that the patient’s brother, known for his religious strictness, denounced this method and described it as charlatanism and sorcery, so the discussion raged between him and the sheikhs Which prompted him to pick up a gun that was near him, and shot the two sheikhs, which led to their death on the spot.
