August 28, 2021 (Khartoum) The Sudanese Ministry of Health On Friday received a shipment of “218,400” doses of the “AstraZeneca” vaccine, a grant from the French government through the Kovacs platform to ensure a fair global distribution of Coronavirus vaccines.
The shipment was received at Khartoum Airport by the Chargé d’Affairs of the French Embassy in Khartoum, Michael Diliim, the Director of the Health Organization in Sudan, Dr. Naama Abed, the Director of UNICEF, Kabir Hassan, and the Director of the General Administration of Basic Health Care, Dr. Khaled Badr.
After receiving the vaccines, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Yusra Mohamed Othman, thanked the French government for its donation to the government and people of Sudan to strengthen its position in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, and expressed her appreciation to the partners who contributed to the delivery of the vaccine shipment through the Kovacs platform, and praised the effective role of UNICEF and WHO.
Michael Dilliam, Chargé d’Affairs at the French Embassy in Khartoum, explained that these quantities of the vaccine were to go to citizens inside France, but the French government preferred to contribute to the global initiative to eradicate the Corona virus and donate it to Sudan, expressing his hope to send more vaccines to Sudan to strengthen its position in the eradication of the Corona pandemic.
