August 26, 2021 (El-Geneina ) A medical committee said that members of an armed movement attacked medical staff, including women, at Morni Rural Hospital in West Darfur.
This is the third attack of its kind in the state within one week, after two cases of attacks on doctors at El Geneina Teaching Hospital.
Doctors Committee in West Darfur said, in a statement, on Wednesday; “A group affiliated with one of the armed movements attacked health personnel in Morni Rural Hospital in Krenk locality.
The committee pointed out that the beatings were carried out with extremely brutal behavior, as they included elderly people over the age of 60, in addition to women.
The committee stressed that “the impunity of criminals in previous cases has become an encouragement for them and their likes to commit more violations.”
The committee gave the local authorities 48 hours to arrest the perpetrators, threatening an unprecedented wave of escalation in all of West Darfur if they were not arrested.
The committee condemned the attack against doctors, noting that “it cannot be justified under claims of negligence, because there are means of grievance, and medical staff working under very bad conditions cannot bear the consequences of the collapse of the health system.”
The committee decided to postpone a strike, which was scheduled to take place today, Thursday, to a later time, after confirming that “the police responded to the demand to arrest the attackers
