August 17, 2021 (Khartoum) Sudan’s National Council for Press and Publications decided to suspend the publication of Al-Dar newspaper for three days due to the publication in its issue yesterday of a news item with the headline “homosexuals demonstrating and demanding the abolition of Article 148″.
The council said that the penalty it issued against the newspaper is in accordance with Chapter VII of the law.
“The necessary measures will be taken in accordance with the articles of the Press and Press Publications Law of 2009 and the Regulations for the Development of Press Work for the year 2013”.
The Council considered that the news article completely lacks the foundations and criteria of the news, as well as its contradiction, as it sometimes refers to incitement homosexuals for demonstration and sometimes indicates their intention to go out and then indicates that they were not granted approval for the demonstration by the competent authorities.
