July 24, 2021 (Elfashir) Armed confrontations in Sartoni camp for the displaced, 53 km southeast of the city of Kabkabiya in North Darfur this week, led to dire humanitarian conditions forcing hundreds of people to flee.
Meanwhile, the state government sent military reinforcements to the area on Saturday to return the fleeing people to their homes.
According to Radio Dabanga seventeen people were killed and nine others were wounded as the result of the fighting in `Saratoni IDP camp.
Sartoni camp for displaced people shelters more than 100,000 people, most of whom are residents of eastern Jebel Marra and some areas of North Darfur
However, a reliable source told Darfur 24 that ten injured people were hospitalized at Kabakabiya hospital .
State government spokesman Ibrahim Moussa Hassan said in an exclusive interview with Darfur24 that the events in the camp left extremely complex humanitarian conditions.
He stated that the authorities will play their full role to shelter the affected people and improve the security situation by increasing the size of military reinforcements
