Darfur 24 has learned that security authorities in Central Darfur state on Friday arrested the former governor of Central Darfur, Shartay Jaafar Abdel Hakam, and transferred him to Khartoum.
Special sources informed Darfur 24 that security authorities raided a funeral gathering in one of the neighborhoods of Zalingei city and arrested the prominent figure of the former regime and Ex governor of Central Darfur, Shartay Jaafar Abdel Hakam.
Abdul Hakam is accused of masterminding crimes committed by the militia leader Ali Abdul Rahman “Kushayb” in the period between 2003-2004.
Jaffar was a civil commissioner of Wadi Saleh locality, when the latter witnessed genocide and heinous crimes against humanity.
The sources indicate that the arrest of Abdul Hakam is directly related to the trial procedures of the detainee at the International Criminal Court, Ali Kushayb.
