Darfur 24- Nyala
The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Fatou Bensouda, arrived Monday , in the city of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, as part of her current tour in the Darfur region.
ICC prosecutor was received at Nyala International airport by deputy secretary-general of the state government, before moving to the state government headquarters, where she had a meeting with the state governor, Musa Mahdi, and members of the state security committee.
Speaking to reporters at Nyala airport, Bensouda said that she was happy to have the opportunity to visit Darfur and cooperate with state governments to redress the victims.
Fatou Bensouda confirmed in previous statements that her visit to Sudan, accompanied by her team to Darfur, would be an opportunity to get acquintted with the conditions of the victims on the ground.
Fatou Bensouda will be heading to Kalma IDP camp 17 kilometers east of the city of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, to meet IDP community leaders , before leaving for the state of Central Darfur.
