Darfur 24-Nyala
The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Fatou Bensouda,has begun her tour of the Darfur region.
She arrived Sunday , in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, as part of her current visit to Sudan.
However, Bensouda had a meeting this morning with officials of the government of North Darfur headed by the state’s governor Mohamed Hassan Arabi.
Upon her arrival in Sudan, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court announced that she would visit Darfur to meet the victims of the war in Darfur, and she told reporters ” you know that we have already started investigating cases of war and genocide, and we will visit Darfur for this purpose”.
She stressed that her visit to Darfur will be an opportunity to find out the conditions of the victims on the ground, praising the victims ’interest in achieving justice and punishing criminals for what they have committed in the region.
According to the schedule of the visit of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, she will visit the states of South and Central Darfur, as well as a number of different IDP camps.
