The city of Furbranga in West Darfur witnessed on Saturday insecurity that led to chaos, riots and burning of a number of government institutions.
However, riots erupted against the backdrop of the death of a citizen in mysterious circumstances on Friday night.
The city of Furbaranga, located 183 kms to the south of El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State, is the second largest city in the state and the first economically.
The Executive Director of Furbranga locality, Siddiq Mohamed Ibrahim said in statements to Darfur 24 that unidentified gunmen shot dead a citizen on Friday night in mysterious circumstances and managed to escape.
He stated that the security forces pursued the perpetrators until the early hours of Saturday morning, but before the forces completed their mission of arresting the perpetrators, citizens who were related to the dead man stormed the residence of the Executive Director and beat him up.
